What is the shortest passage plan anyone has heard logged with the Coastguard.

I would propose /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Hayling to Lyminton.

I once considered notification for a Solent passage. It was blowing a 8a5tard and I realy needed to shift.

In the end I didn't go at great £cost.

At the back of my mind were a couple of cases where very experienced yachts folk paid a much greater price - lost in the Solent and no-one looking for them.

One I believe dragged to and fro by the tide, or rather by the vessel and harness, until completely deaded. Found next day.

big motor boat heard a weekend ago loging Swanwick to Gosport and even admitted the boat was too new to have a callsign or licence, I would have kept quiet and hoped tp survive the trip!!

I heard Bealieu to Lymington on a balmy F3 day, must admit I've never logged a passage plan even when going X channel in winter in strongish winds.

I do log in with the coastguard on x channel. I always try to get all the info to him to see if he can find another question, persons on board type of vessel etc....

If you wait until you're south of Bembridge and do it on DSC it's quite a useful test of the radio as they will give you the received DSC strength scale 1 - 5. Should get a 4 at least (antenna at Boniface Down).

Lymington to Yarmouth ! It was quite a few years ago and the boat called Solent CG and asked whether they should go. Solent advised that it was their (boat owner) decision & only go if happy. I seem to recall that it was gentle winds at the time
