Log resetting

My Nexus Sea Data amongst other information shows TRIP since power-up and LOG, which is cumulative. The trip info can be reset to zero and also does this when the instrument is turned off. The log distance is meant to be non-resettable and should therefore show the accumulated mileage that the boat has covered through the water since installation. Unfortunately, both are going back to zero as soon as the power is turned off.

Has anyone experienced this? Any idea of what is going on?

TIA.

There is no mention of a battery anywhere. I imagine that there is some provision for a 'memory' within the server circuitry but I have no idea of how this is done. The 'pairing' of this server with the various units is claimed to last for at least ten years, even if left unpowered for that time. Perhaps it is some form of EPROM? The dealer is trying to obtain some information from Garmin who have now bought the Nexus brand. Fortunately he offered to provide his own rigger to go up the mast should 're-pairing' of the wind masthead unit be necessary after a possible replacement of the server.
