Log housing replacement

My Raymarine ST60 log housing (thru hull unit) has fractured. I have sourced a replacement at a Cactus Marine.

The inside of the thru hull fitting has a screw flange to seat the outside flange.
Does anyone know if the unit will need drilled out, or whether it might be “persuaded” to slide out if the inside flange is unscrewed??

The broken area is where the transducer thread engages the housing… I have used silicone grease to make removal/ replacement easier as I remove the log and replace with the blank when not sailing. I’m wondering if this might have caused the plastic housing to degrade and fracture, as the broken area is where the silicone grease was ??

All opinions welcome 😀

It all depends on what was used. If somebody correctly used polysulphide to install the unit it will be persuaded (eventually) to push out. If however, somebody used something like sikaflex you will have to mechanically grind it away.

I've just had to buy a new log transducer & through hull fitting for my Tacktick device as I couldn't buy the transducer on its own which had failed, so the through hull fitting is now spare. Tacktick are Raymarine, & the log transducer is made by Airmar, so I might be able to flog you one cheap if you haven't got one already & it's the same device.
