I tried to post this morning but may have made an error.
I purchased my yacht second hand and it came with a Lofrans Cayman 88 windlass. I am currently involved in ongoing maintenance of the yacht and wish to service the windlass. It may be quite some time since it was last serviced. Although this may be a very basic question, I would like to know whether the wing nut (spoked wheel) on the gypsy should turned clockwise or anti-clockwise in order to undo it. Should I also expect it to be extremely stiff. Clearly, I do not wish to damage the windlass by making an error. I am aware that I should use the emergency handle.
Any thoughts appreciated.
