Can anyone tell me where I can buy some of these locker catches [new]? They are made of [--word removed--]-metal and chrome plated. I think they were made by a firm called Tonks & Sons.

Thats what Ive got on the trap door into the loft so I would have thought DIY stores, decent ironmongers builders merchants or even Screwfix.

A steel rule made in USA and marked in mm. I thought they denied all knowledge of metric units /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for that. They look the same, although mine are slightly larger at 54 x 44 mm but I'll check with Timage and see if they will do. Price £18 each is a nasty shock, though!

Newman Tonks was taken over by Ingersoll Rand, from where I received the following:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Thank you for your e-mailed enquiry requesting information on Locker Catches.

William Tonks & Sons merged with William Newman & Sons to form Newman Tonks Ltd in 1970.
These locker catches were discontinued from manufacture soon after (they remained available from stock up until the early 1980's).
Newman Tonks was acquired by Ingersoll Rand in 1995 and has subsequently evolved the product portfolio to suit a more commercial environment.
(Panic hardware, door closers, biometric access control, etc).

Unfortunately we are no longer able to offer this, (or a similar) item.
