Just out of interest after a recent discussion with a very respected Thames boater,contacted the gentlemen who operate the lock at Allington via the email address on their website and received a very prompt and detailed response to a question regarding just how much traffic goes through the main lock during the year.
It turns out that the lock had 1400 movements last year.
