Calling all you techies.
I have received a petition for the saving of our lock keepers and their houses.
I am very happy to sign and pass it around friends but it would receive many more signatures if it was one of those whizzy electronic petitions.
Can anyone set it up?

Was using Safari web browser and for some reason the hyperlink wasn't showing. Gone back to Bills Browser. Need to re boot my head too I think

Oh come on, you know me better than that /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

'Choice language'....you cheeky [word removed] what a [word removed again] how [look for the last time...] /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It's disappeared into a Black hole by the look of things...

I don't know how long they take to approve these things, but the application was complete and duly sent, so that I had a reply telling me it would be considered.

I can't find it in any category though, so it's not been rejected either!

Your petition has been approved by the Number 10 web team, and
is now available on the Number 10 website at the following
address:

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Thames-Locks/

Your petition reads:

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Prevent the
sale of River Thames lock keepers cottages by the EA

The Environment Agency (EA) have announced the proposed sale of
many Lock keepers cottages, which will result in the safety of
Boats navigating the river being compromised, and the flood
management service being adversely affected too.

This action is inevitably going to result in a great deal of
avoidable damage being caused to property and infrastructure
along the Upper Thames being damaged during periods of flood,
and increase the risk of human loss with regard to both
flooding and boating.

The EA have been asked to raise funds for DEFRA to pay an EU
fine, but there are alternative ways of doing this without
creating risk to life and property, such as mortgaging the
properties and using the rental income of said properties to
self fund the mortgages, leaving the irreplacable
infrastructure intact.

We need Lock keepers, and they need to live very close to the
River itself. There is no excuse for this action.

Thanks for submitting your petition.

Yep.

As far as I understand, the cash is going to DEFRA...or at least EA grants have been cut because of a DEFRA fine.

I could have worded that better in hindsight....that was the sarcastic explaination /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I should have put 'Due to the cretinous mismanagement of both DEFRA and the EA.....etc etc /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hell, it's been approved by No.10 Downing street, what do you want? A Royal seal? /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
