Loch Aline Pontoons - update

Hi all, just back from a weeks cruising round Isle of Mull, including a stop at the pontoons in Loch Aline. The folks there have now completed a shoreside building with showers, laundry etc, really good facility. The local shop and restaurants are only 10 mins walk away.

No connection other than an impressed visitor and I wish them well!

Indeed. The shower facilities are first class and I believe that there are laundry facilities although I certainly haven't tried them........ The harbourmaster, aka Chris the Pontoon, is extremely helpful. All in all, they've invested a lot in it and it deserves to be a success.

Yep, last year too, but then it was in the charge of Pontoon Pete, who has since moved on. The sand mine's big tent is new, though the bits were lying about last summer, impressed that they solved the puzzle.

They were having their official opening festivities when we were there last July. Very nice facilities.

I put in £2 which buys enough safety margin...

Apologies if so! I did not call past there last year, so new to me this year. But thought worth posting as the new shoreside facilities make this a good stopping place.

What is new this year. is a path to the village which does not go through the heaps of silica sand, last year despite cleaning shoes carefully we were finding sand months later.
Contrast the progress at Loch Aline with Crinan where the showers and toilets granted funding by Malin Waters at the same time are still not open!

Spent last night (Tue 10 Jun) - facilities excellent as stated below. Staff very helpful, £2.35 a metre for alongside berth although anchorage only 150m away. 7 or 8 boats in against a capacity of around 24.

How is the entrance? Is it silting up , or is it cleared for/by the ferry ?

Not aware that there was a problem about the entrance, but it's fine. The tide flows strongly there.

It is a nice spot never mind the facilities. The sand carrying boat that goes in and out is a bit bigger than the ferry, would think the entrance would be fine if she can use it.
