First time poster - so no harshness please! ;)

I'll have a 19' trailer sailer for next season, and as I live in the West Mids I've sort of decided that Cardiff is going to be an ideal location for the boat for a fair bit of it. I need a cost effective solution.

I anticipate having the boat on the water for the odd month at a time, or even out of the water sat on the trailer, just droping it in and out as and when needed. It would be nice if I could leave the mast stepped throughout.

I'm interested to hear what people think I should consider, taking into account CYC, CBYC and Cardiff Marina charges for short stay. If there is anywhere else I should look please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

CYC offer a very cheap way of keeping a boat, and the club is very friendly and helpful.

Cardiff Marina is more expensive, but there is electric and diesel on-site. On the plus side they do not appear to require masts to be unstepped - I have seen plenty of trailer sailers stored ashore with there masts stepped!

Hope this helps!

Cheers Freshbreeze. Neither CYC or CBYC can offer what I need and weren't that helpful on the phone. The marina people were more accommodating; I could use a mixture of the marina and the dry stack. The latter requires me to drop the mast to navigate under the bridges though.

You could also try and contact Oscar. He has the pontoons just up river from Cardiff Marina.

Try searching for Cardiff Commercial Boat Operators.

Personally I do not know how to get in contact with Oscar.
