Recent threads mentioned prices in excess of £2000 for one of these. My local guy has quoted me £700 for a 6 foot high structure in 1" marine SS.
I drew up my own plan but I think its cheap because he does not normally do work for the yachting fraternity.
This is not a 'back street bodger' but a well organised medium sized firm.
It's good to know that a decent job need not cost an arm and a leg!
Marlyn engineering Nelson Lancs.. No connection except as a satisfied customer!!

It depends what you are going to fit on to it, but when I considered having one made to take solar panels the fabricators I talked to said that 1 inch tube (which is usually 16G or about 1.59mm thick) was too light and were suggesting either 28mm x 3mm wall or 35mm x 3mm wall. The change will make a huge difference to materials cost.

1" does seem a bit small for a 6ft high structure.

1 inch nominal ss pipe

I inch nominal ss pipe
was used for my combination arch
that support the self levelling radar mount.

Below that the 60 watt Kyocera solar panel
and lower still bolted on with 4 U bolts around the pipes is the best part
an aluminium top
that may provide less support for my dermatologist.

The lower part is really 2 arches that are welded to the 1 inch nominal ss pipe guard rail 1 m from the deck.

This is the second attempt.

First was bolted on thick walled 2.5 inch dia aluminium pipe.

Flexed too much.
