Lizard Point

I've only done it a few times and the only rule I followed was: Don't hit England.

I remember an article in YM by a well respected contributor. He said going as far West as Mounts Bay and back was little more than keeping the land on the right going, the land on the left coming back.

After doing the trip many times, I am forced to agree that he was bang on the money.

Pilotage is only required for entering the many places for a stopover.

We went to Scilly last year in our mobo and caught a spring ebb on the way out that added 5kts to our SOG. We had to beat some weather coming home so we had the same ebb on the nose - minus 5kts SOG. Even with that strong ebb tide we were only 1/2 a mile to a mile off and the water was fine, no hideous standing waves.
