Liveaboards at Lechlade

I see that six narrow boats have appeared at Lechlade and they look suspiciously like liveaboards. Not only have they taken up most of the moorings downriver of the bridge, but the c**p on the bank is appearing and they are driving their cars across the field to unload fuel, logs etc.
Another decent mooring ruined.

Don't let it get you down, there is light at the end of the tunnel. If this end of the river is anything to go by; by the time the EA and the relevant council have decided who's doing what and when, you might be able to moor there in about 8 years:nonchalance:

Is this the field on the southern bank, just downstream of Ha'penny Bridge? If so I think it belongs to one of the Oxford colleagues and the reason they charge (or used to charge?) a few pounds per night for mooring was not for the paltry revenue but to ensure people don't moor there permanently. At least that's what I was told a few years ago. My point being that it's a private, not public land and the owner apparently doesn't like the idea of people stopping there for ever - so perhaps they will act faster than if it were local authority land?

Let's hope so, but some of them have been there all summer...

When we were last on the field below the bridge, 2 years agom I was chatting to the farmer who collected the fee for the night. He said that he would do a discount if we wanted to stay more than a week even up to 3 months.

Its not going to be a "problem" for long as once the floods set in that field is under water

I drove past that spot today. So although I slowed down a bit I can't claim to have made a thorough survey. All I saw was three narrow boats moored.

Understand I hate fly tippers / non payers / polluters / free loaders very much. But all I saw was three boats. Mind you, I've no idea how long they have been there.
