A post I was reading earlier about people looking for a Yacht to live on got me thinking.
Maybe it’s been asked before I don't know.

Could be useful for anyone looking to buy a boat for liveaboard purposes..... then they can Google the boats if they so wish, a lot of good liveaboard boats out there that people have never heard of.

What make/model of yacht do you live fulltime on and travel.
Also where you travel.

Please only post if you are a fulltime travelling liveaboard.

We have a LaFitte 44 Robert Perry design built in 1983 will easily out live us.
We are heading to Ireland, Shetland, Iceland, Norway, maybe Baltic’s, Greenland, Canada East Coast, that should take care of the next ten years ish.

Similar lengthy recent thread here...

Thanks for that, I have even posted in it, but forgot all about it....

I idea came from another thread about suitable boats for liveaboard and I dont think the more mass produced boats are suitable for long term living aboard and not really built with that in mind.
I was trying to show the variety of good liveaboard boats out there for the benifit of people looking to change lifestyles.

But I guess the post you have linked to says it all....

Cheers

Lovely boats. I helped some Swedish friends buy theirs in Spain a few years ago. They sailed her to Brazil and back to Sweden.

Sadly, they split up so the boat has been sold on.

When you say lovely boats do you mean the Lafitte's, I know where most of them are, but was unaware of another one in Europe.

Yes, Lafitte 44. Named 'Ahoy' (with two dots over the 'o' as in Swedish).

The guy singlehanded her from Trinidad to Sweden two years ago. He asked me to help but I could not, more's the pity.

Ive checked the data base on Lafittes http://bluewaterboats.org/lafitte-44/boat-records/
And its not listed, so his boat could be one of the missing ones from the list.
53 built 2 gone as far as im aware, 10 unknown, 12 with some info.

No, I don't recognise her from that list.

They bought her from YES Yachting in Almerimar, Southern Spain. The owners were an elderly Canadian couple who had spent twelve years or so happily circumnavigating.

They bought her for a song and VAT was unpaid. When they came to VAT registering with the Spanish Aduanas they were only charged €800.00 - and that was all done on the phone. I know, I was sitting beside them in the cockpit!

Anyway, I e-mailed Elisabeth and she told me that Ahoy was still on the market in Gothenburg. I have asked her to let me know the broker.

well we have done a bit up and down the west coast so might have some ideas for you there including buying a boat on the clyde and bringing her as far as Galway. Might be worth noting that the Volvo Ocean race and the Round Rockall race will be featuring on the west coast sailing calander next summer - you might wish to join or avoid the festivities.

Bit dissapointed no Waquiez boats referenced in the database link you included - I will have to get writing. Pretorian. Gladiateur, Centurion are all worthy examples.

Good one! We also live on our Moody 33 1977 vintage. Been aboard 14 years, been across Atlantic twice, lived in Spain for a year, 2 years in Lanzarote and are currently in our third year of 3 sojurns in Gibraltar.
