Has anybody lived aboard a Colvic Atlanta 31 Ketch for any period of time, if so what tips could you give me - I'm thinking of selling my flat and moving to the Med for a couple of years.

Thanks for any replies.

No experience with that boat but she looks fine to me. Rig an awning over that after deck when you're anchored or alongside and she should be great in the warm weather. My boat is 33 feet overall, lived/cruised in it (single hander) for years. Your's is shallow enough I suspect, to get down through the French canals if you wanted to as well I imagine.

Tip wise- Ours is long keel and rolls at anchor (we do have atlantic swell though) Best thing i did was webasto heating. As you know most were home finished so check out different layouts and rig size etc, our rig is a tadge too small i think.I would happily live on it in the med. Oh.....and for the med get electric windlass, its quite a heavy boat.French canals are no problem, it only draws about 4'.pm me for any more info.

Colvic Atlanta

We have a Colvic Atlanta and I am in the process of fitting her out as a liveaboard, the dimensions of the hull lends itself as a good compromise of internal space without getting to beamy as to effect too dramatically its sailing ability. Our Atlanta is a one off design with aft cabin and centre wheel house gives a lot of internal space (hopefully I have managed to attach a photo) . Everything is a compromise, but I think pound for pound the Atlanta is well worth considering as a liveaboard boat. Best of luck!

Well where to start, it's easily big enough for 1, lots to think about, I posted a similar thread a while ago and got some useful advice, have a look here, I think it covers most of the things you'll need to think about. Do you already have the boat?

Maybe rent the flat first and use as income if possible but if you have the chance go for it, best of luck...:)

Isn't your model know as a Colvic Atlanta Mullion? I saw a very similar (if not identical) version At Nationwide Boats yard near Sheffield about 2005.

I have just been and found the old sales sheet. She was built 1980 and called "Susurrus". The aft cabin had a double berth and vanity unit with an ensuite enclosed heads. The centre cockpit was not enclosed but had a removeable cockpit cover. She was long keel with bilge plates. I would like one when I set off to the Med in2012.
