Live in Bristol always boated on South Coast - could I consider Cardiff?

It might well be - but for the money they want I could berth at Portishead which may not be quite as nice but is 20 min / half hour from home not 90 min and access all states of tide.

Only being able to get in/out 2hrs either side high tide is just way too restrictive to make boating pleasurable.

One certainly cannot get into Portishead Lock at all states of the tide. I have spent many an hour waiting in The Hole for enough rise to enter the half tide lock +-3

No I cannot understand who would pay Portishead fees for the marina there - whilst the marina is nice enough it’s just too limited to charge like they do (think wounded Rhino)

Cardiff is 1/2 the price and more accessible at more of the tide
