Ooh no. We can get you off that. Post full details, esp:

Did they actually stop you in person?
What did they say?
Did they give you a HORT1 ticket or did you have all your docs on you?
Did you sign the tciket?
Did you show ID, like licence, wallet, anything?
Any witnesses apart from the copper's sidekick?

Re: Live from America

Just arrived in New York which is why I missed the bash, although did fly over the Thames if that counts.

Posting from US makes me nearly as sad as Happy but nothing like as drunk!

I hope that I sleep as well as he does.

Jon

Have you taken your boat to Windsor Happy?

Hi Happy - glad you had a good time, got back to Harleyford in 3.5 hrs which I thought was good going, no hold ups nothing.

Had a great time nice to meet all the folks.

And as for Hany - well pretzels is all I have to say /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

You wanna stick to the clean living of the Solent, all these river types will lead you astray.

Did you manage to keep under 40 knots?

Pete

U wanna be doing more of the salads u were raving about... as we followed u out of Windsor, we noticed a distinct list to starboard. I was worried for your safety! Then all was explained... the helm station is on the starboard side... and Lisa was sitting on the port seat. Im told trim tabs help in these situations...

Fab time! Thanks all :-)

By the way - no wonder he's TerrifiedTony - have u met his daughter? TerrifyingKaren? ;-)

So where did you get to then? You were behind us at Boveney Lock and kept an eye open for you but didnt see you pass us anywhere? What time did you get back to Teddington?

Liz had set her heart on a brunch "in the shadow of the Castle" - ended up getting into Old Windsor lock at around 2pm. Bit of a disaster there - s/board rubbing strip got caught on the lip of the lock wall, tore about 10feet off when eventually she fell off :-( Bummer really, but hey - another job added to the list for the close season.

Then stopped for tea at the Runnymede Hotel at Bell Weir. Got back to Teddington at about 7.30.

Great the boating mullarky - we managed a full 14.8 miles according to the log, in 7 and a half hours. Fab!

Lisa? I don't remember taking her home /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif I thought it was Louise, you mean I slept through a great opportunity /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

As for the listing a little, I have noticed that /forums/images/icons/wink.gif but without me going on the salads, I have noticed it when the boat is moored. As you say there is the helm stuff, the fridge and sink on that side together with the water tank for the sink.

Anyway we had a great time, and got back safely although, I am not joking, we thought that on the way back we were both flying through the sky, very wierd feeling, but very, very true.

I will explain the flying feeling :-

On the way back from Windsor marina to Oakley court we were travelling through the dark, as we approached the hotel the water was mirror still, with big floodlights shining outwards from the hotel. The big trees on the starboard side (opposite side to the hotel and lights) had their full reflection and that of the sky reflected into the water. Now I know I had drunk a couple of shandys, but I actually thought I was airborne and flying through the sky, it was so relaxing /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Anyway Louise felt the same so it can't have just been me /forums/images/icons/wink.gif In fact I was so happy that we landed safely back at the hotel, we had a bottle of wine each and 10 bottles of Stella between us to celebrate, the next thing I knew the cleaner was waking me this morning. I ended up with having to get a late check out, which was 7pm this evening /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I visited Dogsbody in Bray, very relaxing up there, and found the Monkey hotel that Louise wanted to stay at, she has stayed there before but I would like to try it some time.

Sorry about the jibberish post, it seems that the handwriting recognition on my PDA had a slight problem, seems OK since re-booting it /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks to all who were involved in the organising especially Mike and B1, well done, excellent. Must organise a Chatham do next /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Pete (H1), I was referring to Pete (PGD). Too many Pete's on this forum... I propose Kim forces any new Pete to change his name b4 allowing yet more of this silliness!

Must echo your joy of night sailing, tho. There's something quite magical about it - esp in your (must say extremely quiet!) boat. Open cockpit, stars above, and quiet enough to hear the sound of water being broken below... agree entirely - quite magical.

By the way, Pete (PGD), don't think H1's interjection gets u off the hook :-)

H4 :-)

Does that mean I can lay off the salads /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Nice to meet you, I think you would make a good wicket keeper /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Ohi you cheeky sod, I didn't tell the Pretzel story I just mentioned the P word. So name and shame - you asked me to help you carry ALL THAT BEER, and what did we end up with - a pack of bud and a bag of pretzells /forums/images/icons/smile.gif ---- all in name of fun mate, not having a did - thanks for the hospitality BTW.

The boat does list a bit and NO it's not cos I'm on the starboard side !!!! new engine 100kg heavier, all batteries on that side plus calorifier.

Have go trim tabs, but the stbd one leaks oil so don't use them - not that they make any real difference at 4 ktns.

It was a police car hiding in the bushes! One policeman. He followed me and stopped me about 2 miles further on. Ranted on about my front fog lights being on (Volvo V70) and then said he was warning me about that. He asked me if I knew why he had stopped me
Me " Maybe because I was gooing a bit fast?"
Fuzz "No, because you overtook on a double white line."
Me "Oh, when was that?"
Fuzz then said where
Me " Well the old lady was driving very slowly and there was no other traffic around."
Fuzz then agreed that my manouvre was not dangeroous in the circumstances but as I had crossed the double white line he was going to issue a ticket. for £60 & 3pts and documents to be produced at local police station.

I did'nt show any Id and there were no winesses, the police chappie was completely on his own.
