Watched yesterday evening as India Juliet and both Littlehampton RNLI teams searched for survivors from a small Zodiac rib / tender found floating off Littlehampton and was recovered. Sadly a 2 year old was found but was not able to be saved.
BBC news

Coastguard teams resumed the search this morning with IJ and when I left home a team I spoke to the HMCG who were again about to search the beach and rocks to the west of Littlehampton for the missing man.

Thoughts are with the family for this tragic loss of life.

Yes I heard this tragedy unfold on the VHF yesterday afternoon, very upsetting to hear that the little lad had died, a tragic loss. Poor wife/mother now has to wait while the (body?) of he husband is found.

Our thoughts go out to all the family.

I only saw the pictures on the TV this morning. Cant help thinking that the dinghy/outboard looked brand new and wondering if that was their first trip etc etc???

Whatever happened - a terrible, terrible tragedy.

No safety kit.... from conversations today with rescue team the Child only had blow up arm bands of the swimming variety ( these were found in the Rib). The confusion was with the sun protection suit the little one was wearing when found wrongly identified as some form of floatation suit.
Regretably once again we see a particularly tragic loss of life that could have been perhaps prevented by the wearing of a life jacket or floatation device. Something which is so important when young vulnerable children are aboad any vessel.

Mourning Department

Hm. Sometimes i have been accused of being a bit thoughtless on this sort of thread. So this time, however sorry and mournful other forumites might be about this particular accident they just heard about in the news concerning some people they've never known - I'm at *least* that sorry and mournful, and probably a lot more besides, alright? I am also using a black keyboard as a mark of respect.
