An MCA report tells of a collision between a 50 foot fishing vessel and a bulk carrier 13 miles off Spurn Point on Friday.
Points of interest: 1. The bulk carrier was at anchor at the time. 2. Weather and visibility conditions were OK. 3. After the fishing vessel's crew were rescued it was expected to sink. 4. There was no damage to the bulker, nor was there any pollution.
Wonder what the fishing skipper's excuse will be?

" I was down below making a cup of tea and the young fellow was at the wheel" is always a favorite.

don't know the real facts but current word of mouth is that the fishing boat was steaming at 14 knots through an anchorage zone and the bulker which was anchored on wire was turning on the tide and that the fisher fouled his rode as it took the weight and damaged his bows.........its to be lifted and repaired in Grimsby by all accounts.......would have thought that it would be best alround just to disperse it........
