Hi Folks,

Found this documentary film on UTube about coasting ,made in the 1980's . Fascinating insight into to life at sea and well worth a watch.

Rob.

On the plus side, by way of entertainment, we have just had Tony Bliar ( yes him! remember?) on the national evening news banging on about how the 'third way' could yet save us all and M. Hollande in particular.

double nickynacknoo!

Have made cryptic diary entry 'Wisbech' on the date I'm next over.

yrs ever etc

Thanks for that!

A documentary about the work and life aboard the old coaster "Carrick" as she plies the waters of the North Sea and the English Channel trading to the ports of Southern England and the Near Continent. Of particular interest is her passage into the port of Exmouth, Devon, which has since passed into history and been replaced with new housing development.

I remember seeing ships like the Carrick in Exmouth when it was still a working dock, with a railway siding.

Thanks for the link it took me right back to my apprenticeship on coasters. Seems like a different life to now!

:)

Thank you for the link, great prog, motor coasters not too un similar to the sailing barges, in life /work style.

Exmouth dock very interesting views of dock at work and play.

Oh the sound of those slow reving engines, a sound to die for, me thinks.

Thank you again

Excellent, thanks

Loved the two cases of beer under the skipper's desk...

What was the clipper ship, no masts, as they left ?portsmouth
