Not good to hi-jack this thread so maybe another thread with wintering locations under a "sticky" title would be very useful. IMO of course

This is often one of the most frequent questions on this forum - "where should I lay up near (place_name)"

My web site tries to meet this need with a summary at the bottom of each region page. So, for instance, at the bottom of http://www.jimbsail.info/mediterranean/greece/south-peloponese You'll find:

Summary

Attractions. Navarino Bay; the small towns of Methoni, Finikounda, Koroni. Old castles. Mystras. Diros caves. Elafonisos anchorages.
Snags. In stronger winds, powerful downdrafts in the lee of the hills. Commercial traffic off Cap Malea.
Ports of Entry. Kalamata
Layup or Wintering. Kalamata, Pylos ashore or afloat. Kalamata good for live aboard.
Transport. Seasonal flights: Kalamata - UK airfields. Frequent Buses to Athens 3hr to 3hr 30 duration (all bus timetables Kalamata)
Boat Charter.Yes, limited, Kalamata.

There are brief descriptions higher on each page of the places mentioned. Each spring I get a new crop of inputs and edit them into the text. The easiest ones to edit in are those which are attached as "comments" - also all other readers can get an unvarnished opinion about the place as soon as a comment is posted.

More immediately convenient for readers here may be just to post opinions on this thread! Tell me if I can use them.

Thanks Jim. I have been on your site before (who hasn't?) so I will re-visit with focus on lay-up notes. I wonder though, if you have an index of those locations where you have given lay-up information. Save me a few minutes surfing through all the locations on your site.

I mean if I decided to study what is available in the Aegean do I have to dig through the descriptions of all the islands to find a suitable place (for me)?

EDIT Ooops. Sorry Jim, I should have posted this on the original thread to maintain this one for contributed lay-up information.
