i have a lister ts series air cooled engine and wish to obtain the parts to fit it to a work boat in our sailing club, has anybody done this or know where i can obtain parts i need. (lister dont sell to the public)

This is a long shot but worth trying. Details out the parts you need and try breakeryard.com you have to be very specific on that site a woolly description will not suffice.
