I have a three-cylinder, 30hp Lister Petter diesel. The water pump is fixed to a bracket beneath the generator and driven by a thin belt from the flywheel in the front of the engine. That belt is now very slack and I can't figure out how to change it then tighten it. There seems to be no adjustment whatever. My boatyard man has looked and confirmed that I'm not blind. The engine manual and operator's handbook provide no clues, perhaps because the thing is supposed to be so obvious. But not to me! Any thoughts? Thanks.

Check the pulley does not dismantle, some have shims underneath! Past experience on cars, some have shims that you remove from between both pulley halves. These are then placed under the centre nut for later!
