Volvo Paul's yer man for this m'thinks, although nothing to do with it but isn't your turbo hose a tad tight in it's turn to the filter

that's an understatement!
on 1:14 you can see the pipe is fully folded, wonder if this engine can rev at all
How is that? No idea of the engine but cannot possibly be right.

Nothing wrong with that pipe into the turbo, its alloy so it wont squash, its howit should be.

From the video I cannot really diagnose the problem, it could be anything though it doe sound like 2 things.

1 the turbo gasket between the turbo and manifold could be blowing gas although you would get a clant leak, maybe a leak on the exhaust elbow.

2 It could be a blowing injector.

Is ther any loss of peformance, does the noise go when you drop it in gear as the hurth hs63 did suffer from driveplate failure quite often, does it rattle when you switch the engine off?.

We really need a bit more info, I suggest you try and carry out a trial and get back with some results.

Is oil pressure ok, coolant temp, no overheating, look at engine while under load, is it smooth and balanced, or does it vibrate under load, is there any steam or smoke from anywhere on the engine.

When were the valves clearances last checked?

Get back to us when you have more.

If you are referring to that dull regular thonking sound underlying to rest of the racket :) one of my old 40As had that sound from the day I bought the boat until the day i sold it with 4000 hours on the clock.Definately audable at one end of block.
Always wondered if it was sign of some impending expensive doom but nothing ever happened.
