Hi folks, is it possible to buy a book that has details/specs on secondhand boats similar to those books for cars. It will be a whole lot faster to find a boat if there is ,the sites I have been on are most unco-operative, eg ,I go on to a site and fill in the search box with my requirements and Im told there is nothing available of that description, lo and behold I click on brokerage
and there are some there!!!!! HELP!*#*^!!!!

A couple of years ago I bought Reeds Yacht Buyers Guide. It covers new and second-hand yachts 20-40feet.

It didn't include any Moodys under about 38ft and presumably there are other omissions too. Otherwise quite helpful with a bit of blurb plus specs and layouts and guide prices.

I have a great book called 'Dayton's Guide to Yachts' which has a half page entry (stats., plans, pictures, description) for every yacht in production.

Mine's over 10 years old now and I don't know if it's still published.

hi
easier if you are looking for an older "classic" type of boat- Bristows Book of Sailing Cruisers 1975 lists about 70 sailing boats with spec, sail area etc. Bristows Book of Yachts 1989 lists sail and motor yachts up to 50-60ft. The RYA also did a booklet titled Popular Sailing Cruisers -90 boats undr 35 ft. This was published about 1995. The Bristows series was almost every year up to about 1990, not sure if they continued after that.
