Liquid plastic

I have just spent a satisfying weekend making two wooden kneeler pads for the heads of my boat. Now I need to cover them with a permanent coating to make them more hygienic and easy to clean. Paint would be the obvious answer, but I want something more durable. Does any member of this forum know of a product like liquid plastic which I can coat them with?

There is a product called plastikote, but I would consider using formica which you could even stick on with epoxy.

Try gel coat - then it will look like fibre glass.
