. The lip seal on my spade rudder shaft is failing. Looks like its made from mild steel (rudder shaft is stainless). It sits between the shaft and a rubber (clamped both ends). The seal is above the waterline but some water must penetrate at times which explains the corrosion. There is no evidence of water ingress. I want to replace the lip seal with the boat in the water and without disconnection the rudder from its bearings. Is it possible to do this with 2 half circular pieces which interlock and a o ring (cut and joined - glued )? The rudder bearings are ok so I don't want a lift out just for the lip seal
