Link to Low Cost French Med Mooring

The on-water cost sounds like a bargain. Ashore rate seems about what we are paying at Port Leucate - 10 Euros per metre per month. Fos would be a better location to be based at, there are few interesting destinations from Leucate for relatively short term cruising. It is pretty dead in the winter and they don't allow owners to live aboard on shore.

Many have posted about port napolian someone last year bought a boat there and has continued the place rental.

Its very good but 4/5 kms through an industrial wast land to a plesant but small village/town lots of mistral but yes in a way a good place to be???

If you look in the forum index i gave a link to the port--i cant give it now as my laptop had to be reinstalled and i lost all my data but theres a good link and you can get a price online for your boat plus a vertual visit via stills of the port

Yes Port Nap is Ok, the facilities are very good including an on site Brit engineer with his own facilities, who is also the local Volvo agent.
I agree the surrounding area is not brill. but only 30 mins drive is Arles which is a super place to visit, dine & shop, with all the normal French amenities. including a great street market.

Port St Louis which Port Napoleon is part of, has a supermarket & the best Boulangerie in Provence IMHO. Nimes airport is only 50 mins away

Cost for 36 foot yacht on the hard was £1300 for 2005 season.

Unfortunatly mosquitoes are big problem for every one in this region, By last year residents and communes said that the mosquito population had exploded and as a tv program showed people coverd in mosquitoes,It advised everyone to cover up and protect small children and babys.
It was even proposed to spray with DDT as this is the only pesterside that deals with mosquitoes, but Paris blocked the idea--somthing about being a forbiden product

The fact that DDT was even thought about shows how bad the problem is-at least port st louis is only on the edge of the area and suffers only when the mistral or tramentains not blowing
