I have a Philips Navigator Mk 9 GPS-D with 2 sets of wires coming from the back, one marked NMEA in, one red and one blue, and NMEA out, one red and one blue. Is it possible to connect this unit to a Simrad RS25 DSC VHF? The manual states

" The standard marine interface NMEA 0183 version 2.0 is used for communication with other marine equipment like:

Radars, Plotters, Autopilots, Fish Finders etc
Philips NMEA 0183 Repeater Display
Philips Chart Plotters PCP 207 and PCP 211
Philips DGPS Beacon Receiver PBR 1000
DGPS Beacon Receivers transmitting RTCM SC104 data (4800 baud)"

Any help or advice would be most gratefully received.

The AP9 should output NMEA to a DSC radio. no problem.
Use the NMEA out red and try with NMEA blue to radio NMEA in and ground respectively.
If that doesn't work, exchange the blue wire for the AP9 signal ground.
I haven't got my manual handy, and so can't remember the pin no. for the signal ground.
