I want to buy a cheap sailboat.
Its a big boat, and no build date in the advert. Could be expensive to maintain and run. The claim of 17 knots speed seems suspect from looking at the pictures, more like 7 to 10 knots at a guess.

As a general comment there are lots of used boats available with low purchase price, but things wear out and go wrong with age and use. The more complex the boat's systems the more there is to go wrong. Repairs and replacements can be expensive, it all depends on what skills you have and how much work you can, or want, to do yourself.

Before buying a boat it is a good idea to have an inspection/ survey report by a specialist to identify possible faults or potential problems. This will be at your expense, but can be used to negotiate the price down if faults are found.

Hope you find a suitable boat.

Since the OP has no experience in sailing boats. Big minefield. So a good survey is critical. If I was looking for a cheap sailboat (with no experience) I would be very careful about this. They look a good, sound, boat, but it is in the details., which could be expensive.

Just to add to my previous comments.
In addition to the purchase price you will need an annual budget for running costs. Main items will probably be : somewhere to keep it - mooring /marina berth or similar; periodic cleaning of hull and re-coating bottom paint; insurance; annual maintenance of engine and other systems; fuel costs; etc. etc.

I HAVE A LINDSEY GLOBEMASTER in Key Largo. FL.
Fantastic Dream boat. Yes it only draws 3 feet and 5 inches.! Sails Great. Ford Lehman Diesel with a huge engine room housing a 4kw Yanmar 2gm20 Kohler 4KW generator.
That boat you saw for sale is being sold by someone who knows nothing about the boat. He claims the boat has a hull speed of 18 knots.. LOL.
I also have a Colombia 35 CC in Port Charlotte in a boat yard with a newly rebuilt Yanmar 3GM30 with 0 hours. I replaced the steering with a hydralic steering. The boat has brand new standing rigging.

I have a Lindsey Globemaster 39. It does draw only 3 feet 5 inches. 12 foot beam. With the Jib up only it will do 7 knts. That post you saw for the overpriced awful boat is being sold by someone who knows nothing about it. The hull speed is purported to be 8.5 knots. I will tell you what it does with I put both sails up. My motor is a Ford Lehman. Your inquiry prompted me to join the forum. I have another boat that is for sale a Colombia 35 cc.. Very spacious. These boats are built with a lot of Fiberglass.. Not like modern boats.

I know the original post is quite old but the 18 kts noted is likely kph (kilometers) which is approximately 10 kts.
