After ten months in Sint Maarten, I am getting the urge to move again. The only thing currently preventing me from departing is that my passport expires soon-ish and will take two months to get renewed. But that hasn't stopped me from doing a little route planning and dreaming.

I've wasted hours & hours on Google Earth & OpenCPN looking at the Spanish Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, Belize and my next hurricane hole, Guatemala. In places, the water is so clear that you can almost see the lobsters using Google Earth. I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas.

My route will put just over 1800 NM under Stingo's keels, which at 7 knots, is only 11 days sailing. But I plan to take four months to do it.

At the risk of sounding like a Muurican, whoop, whoop.

Much the same for me really :)

If weather holds up, thinking of going round to the Yealm at the weekend, that's pushing 3 miles ;)

Well youre certainly On The Pace!
If it is any consolation, I was 'lapped' by rtw friends whilst in Florida, we both left England at the same time.
The oddest places can turn out the most rewarding and then it's difficult to leave.
Along the same route, almost, I loved the DR cos you could ride dirt motorbikes without helmets on really rough roads, take a bus to Haiti, live on umpence of fresh fruit beans and rice, dance herself stupid on the music.

Thought I would hate PR. Popped in to San Juan for fuel and stayed 3 months and two hurricanes and all sorts of culture.

As an opposite, the T n C worth a diversion for the fish and quiet open spaces specially with modest draught.

Decisions decisions hey ho..:)

+1
Suggested stops would be most welcome. I had not thought of stopping in DR; had heard bad things about security there, but may do so now that you are so enthusiastic about it. Am planning on doing the south coast of Cuba, so the T&C's are too far north and not on the glide-path.
