Lightning , how safe.

I was out in the solent wednesday evening ,flat calm fishing and looking up at the stars, when i thought ? ,how safe am i here if it started to thunder and lightning.
How safe am i ,well all of us ,what if anything should we do.

Find yourself a convenient nearby raggie and stick close - his mast is taller than yours and should attract anything nasty (take it from one who was on a yacht and was hit by lightning in mid-channel - had to use the hand bearing compass to get home - it was the only bit of kit undamaged)

Lightning is perfectly safe, as long as it dosent hit you! If it looks like it is going to hit, then shout "go away nasty lightning stuff" this will be as effective as anything else. Paranoia rules ok.

Lightning, perfectly safe.

Lightning is perfectly safe. I have never read of a single incident of lightning being hurt at sea. I strongly recommend, however, that you are nowhere near it.
