lifting my boat off the beach, for anti fouling

Hi,

my trimaran beaches no problem, 1.5 T weight.
but, of course i cant paint the bottom of the main hull as that sits on the beach.
today i cleaned a bunch of barnacles off, i estimate the area i cant AF to be about 20%

fitting bilge keels is not an option ;)

thinking about something like this

anyone done something similar ?

Blooming spell 'correction' fouling !

That should work, although it would be easier to use two and roll her back and forth to gain full access. of course, the search is now on for free rollers rather than splash out on inflatable ones! With a bit of care, you should be able to beach her onto the rollers.

Product is not avail since NOV 2010 says in advert. Looks like a good idea. Can prob find use as extra large fender when needed.

Perhaps the big new fenders might do the trick?

Assume that the only problem is the main hull bottom. You need to have heavier-than-water spacers, which probably rule out sleeper sections. I'd suggest a cunning construction of concrete blocks. The inflatable units look a trifle over-imaginative to me (exhaust back-pressure stopping the engine) and excessively expensive.
Fortunately I can beach my boat and have all except the keel-wing bottom and the prop-skeg available to antifoul.
It is, however, fat more convenient to lift, wash, prop and antifoul than to save a few £/€ on DIY.

its not the money saved that is the object re beaching.

i can walk round the boat just before drying and clean the hull with readily available water whilst checking out the landing ground = sand if i get it right.

whole thing takes 8 hours from on to off, no chance of dropping the boat as nearly happened last time !

and it stops me from getting fat ....

Have you considered just digging holes under the hull to Permit painting. Dig 2 holes one near the bow one near the stern. Paint those now accessible areas. Either do the rest of the keel on the next tide on a new flat patch or...
Put car jacks on flat blocks and jack up/ take the weight of the boat so that you can then dig out under the rest of the keel. Make sure the floats are supported also to stop it slipping off the jacks. Better still lower it onto blocks from the jacks good luck olewill

When we were kids our dingy had inflatable buoyancy tanks ex WD which my Dad identified as rollers they used to bring Short Sunderland's ashore as they were not amphibian flying boats unlike Catalina's.
So idea of using big fenders is a proven method.
Hereabouts I would just source some large diameter logs off one of the many timber stacks.
