I'm dumping the Bav 34, it heels too much making me sick, I've lost all my anchors and I want something I can take the ground on and reduce my draught when necessary. Does anyone know of a lifting bilge keeler that might be suitable with a roatating inner compartment to counteract the effect of the sea's motion?

if it is heeling your afraid of you need to sell the Bav and buy a Cat. they can take the ground no worries and are brilliantly balanced.

i know of some siamese for sale.

I have 2 cats - Tubs and Mr Henry - I cannot agree with your comment regarding balance as both regularly fall out of trees on windy days.
I feel that perhaps a bilge keeler with some form of concertina device whereby the windward keel might be extended and the molten lead poured from the now redundant leeward keel is the type of device that Madman seeks. There was a Scottish design on the market not long ago - the Golden Piper I think which encapsulated this idea along with a pneumatic torsion brace device on tufnol rollers which allowed the centre accommodation pod to move independantly of the outer hull.

i will have to do some research into the Safety OF Tipping Lead At Degrees (SOFTLAD) regs

Yes, I think that would help. The sticks rating of a bilge keeler in soft mud would also help - that is with one keel, two and both retracted.

Nae bother

Only sure cure for this. You need a harryproa, which I used to believe was some sort of dubious medical procedure until I tried Smirnoff.

sadsail the binner has the right answer. unless your legs are 2 different lengths and you need a half boat, the answer is to get a cat. its the only sort of retractable bilge keeler made.

they are definitely a better bet for seasickness sufferers. pm me if you want a more serious discussion.
