The time has come for the annual lift out antifoul, service etc. Last year I painted the legs with some International paint which was better than nothing, but not great. Does anybody know of a better product for the legs or are they much the same. And has anybody tried the 'Propshield' grease. I've got stainless duoprops and although they don't foul up too much they are a pain to clean. Any thoughts?

We use Trilux on the o/ds which I think is an International product and have found it to be quite good (top end of Hamble). If you are not having much joy with it then perhaps a more localised enquiry may be better - local swindlery etc?

Best of luck!

I'm in the Hamble and I think it was Trilux that I used last year. I Got to early summer and growth was sarting to take over. Then the more I scrubbed to remove it the more the paint came off.

I have trilux (the spray version on the legs, not the gloop in a tin). Some growth;whether less growth than using nothing at all, I dont know!! Tends to get washed off under way.

Trilux is a hard scrubble antifouling it should not wash off if applied to correctly prepared and primed surfaces.

It is formulated to be safe on aluminium but because of its hard scrubble nature and availability in a small pack size it is also useful as a boot topping.

I tried Propshield, basically expensive lanolin, last year. It's hard to apply to outdrives as the preferred heat application method can't be used. I ended up with very uneven coverage, and plenty of it on me and the ground too. Nevertheless it was moderately effective, but did seem to have mostly washed off by August /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This year I used spray Trilux Prop-O-Drev. It's not been that great either, but weed growth has washed off quite readily and no barnacles.

Somebody hereabouts recommended chilli poweder in trilux as being effective.
