Lift out on south coast?

We are willing to travel around so it doesnt matter too much

We use Saxon Wharf at Southampton because their lift out crane is huge. Also, it doesn't cost any more than any of the other yards.

The guys there are very pleasant and it is a good yard to get work done because it's more of a working yard. Also it's easy for all the tradesmen to get to.

The smaller lifting cranes elsewhere can sometimes lift cats but most of them want lots of clearance between the legs of the crane and the boat and so they are reluctant.

Cheers

Garold

Ps You can go onto MDL website for Saxon and calculate a price too.

Can anyone help me I have a 6.6 meter beam catamaran 12 meters lenght
Hoping to find a lift out capeable for this size on the south coast
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Are you definately looking to lift out. Wicormarine in Portsmouth habour have a collection of CAT's dried out most of the time against the pontoons. You can also go ashore in the summer when the boat yard isn't full

I know they kept one of the old trailers for handling cats when they got the new Sublift, and they have had big cats ashore there in the past. But 6.6m beam might be pushing it for the slipway. Picture here. Best give the yard a ring and check.

Got my Lagoon 380 (beam 6.53m Length 11.8m) out at Universal Marina up the river Hamble a couple of years ago no problems at all. But used MDL at Saxon Wharf last year, both very good and very helpful.

regards

Bob

Could also try Thornham Marina in Emsworth - multihull specialists and very helpful / friendly although I'm pretty sure they bring in a subcontractor to liftthe bigger cats.

+1, first place I'd try in your position.

Possibly Wilsons Boatyard on Hayling Island may be a go-er too, very helpful & competetive rates, but not sure about their ability to lift large cats.

Ditto Gosport Boatyard, can't remember their crane set-up and may be tight on space ashore but worth a try.

Seajet, I remember Wilsons having a very beamy trimaran ashore regularly. There method IIRC is to float boat onto trailer pull ashore with airplane tug then lift off, seem to recall seeing new crane there in last coupla years, so good call for Wilsons, only downside is pain to get to in summer.
