I'm looking to have the boat moved by road and need to know of any place in Portland Harbour that will lift the boat and take down the mast. Sailing Academy can do it - but infrequently as they have to hire in a crane. Not familiar with the area so does anyone else do it. Also out of interest, is ther anyone in Portland that could do epoxy jobs? This would save moving the boat by road - Had no luck in that department either

Cheers all /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Bought my boat from Portland last year and had it lifted out by the Sailing Academy who also organised a crane from the company next door. All well organised, friendly and not expensive. I think that the crane cost me around £80.

But if this is your Trapper you are talking about, I used to lift and lower the mast on mine with a long rope attached to the forestay and lower/raise the mast which was hinged on a single bolt at the after end of the mast heel. The mast will need steadying at either side with the halyards but it was always a simple and quick job every year
