Life\'s not always a lottery (nb)

I used to love football - played it 'til 39, watched it, talked about it. But, not anymore - it's a game for whining, overpaid, oversexed (jealous) cheats.

I was amazed to read in the paper this weekend that the National Lottery has threatened the FA that unless the likes of Ericsson the Shagmeister, Becks and Co. clean up their act they'll stop the £25MILLION lottery grant to the FA!

Is it just me!? Or is this ludicrous?

I'm almost speechless!

Why is so much moiney being paid to the FA from this. You can hardly classify it as a good cause! Bet they dont pay £25m to RNLI

It's not just you.

The money would be much better spent supporting British sports where we win world championships and gold medals. Like sailing and rugby.

I hate football, the game at the top level seems to be run by incompetent idiots and played mostly by cheating thugs. I happened to see a few minutes of the Fulham WBA game on tv yesterday where 3 players were sent off, they were a disgrace, play acting, cheating, aggressive and foul mouthed. And people pay good money to see this rabble! I now switch off whenever football comes on tv or radio, just happened to be cooking breakfast and was mildly amused for a few minutes.

However I have to accept that it is probably the most popular "sport" in the UK and from what I gather this grant is to aid the grass roots level. It would be interesting to see how much actually gets swallowed up in administration.

I saw that exerpt Longjohn - what a bloody shambles.

The link to grass roots occured to me as well but that certainly wasn't the inference of the article.

In any case, I can't see anyone penalising kids for the way these tossers carry on.

Maybe I could.

Totally staggered

I wont add to the negative comments about the game at the risk of repetition, but it does make you sick when one reads (in YM) that the Medway Queen has been refused lottery funding due to insufficient historic importance.

Roll on summer!

All best Nick

Well said LJS !
Mind you, I think that bowls and darts are probably greater participant sports.
Wonder if they'd give a lottery grant to the hunts . . . ?
good result in the goff, I agree; Dutch game isn't it?
