SWMBO and I are inthe process of purchasing a liferaft (cannister) for our Sealine 350 Statesman, and we are looking for some advice about where to put it (careful now!).

We've looked around the our marina (Brighton) and there seem to be remarkably few liferafts on display to give us any clues. Anyone with a similar boat that can lend some advice?

Try calling John Baker of Nationwide on 07885 631 066 or 01925 245 788

Apart from helping me over the years, he has helped many forumites as well. Delivers to the door, collects for servicing, etc.

I have no commercial interest, etc.

its a real pain in a smaller boat, we had a 330 and it was always in the way. Stow it below and its no use, out on the engine hatch and you cant open the hatch, in the saloon you trip up it, on the bathing platform, it get nicked, never found the ideal solution so bought a bigger boat!!

The best position I have found, assuming there is room, is on the stern end of the flybridge behind the steps from the cockpit. Its accessible but out of the way. There is an issue of security but then its not that difficult to break into a cruiser.

We've got a Sealine 360 and were faced with the same problem but resolved it by buying a valise type which stows (just) in the locker by the cockpit entrance. It's quite easy then to remove it from the locker and leave in the cockpit area whilst at sea and readily available.

Hi Ron if you recall the School F36 has hers mounted aft on the fly above the steps. You can get brackets to suit. Cant say if the 350 has similar room on fly. Good luck Clive
