Anyone got any info on the best priced place for purchasing a new liferaft? I want to buy a quality one but I don't want to pay over the odds (who does?).
Thanks

When I bought mine, Hardway Marine in Gosport were the cheapest. Speak to Luke 023 9258 0420 and don't forget the ohhh and ahh's when he quotes you a price. I suggest that you get quotes from other suppliers for the make and model that you're after before speaking to him. Then negoitate him down from there. You could also try . They're holding an <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.messengermarine.co.uk/openday.htm>open day on 8 March. Should be interesting.

Most important to ensure you are getting a quality piece of equipment - especially as liferaft prices are really coming down now.

One of the advantages of checking at the boat show is that you can see the raft inflated so you can see for yourself how it has been put together.

You may find it advantageous to buy a quality ex hire raft rather than a 'cheap' new one.

I recently bought an ex hire, fully serviced Zodiac raft for £600.

As suggested by a previous post - try Nationwide - nice people to deal with.

Cheers

Thanks for your replies

I talked to John & got a 40 min lesson on different types of liferaft. As you've suggested Piers, he's terrific. It's great to get a real expert when you need one. He sold me an 2002 model at a very good price. Maybe just a smidge more than the cost of an Arimar or whatever, but if I ever need to use it I want the wretched thing to work!
