Four of my six lifejackets are ten years old this summer. I'm going to begrudgingly throw them out even though a couple of them have just been worn a handful of times.

I'll just buy two new ones.

Anyway, I was wondering if forumites have any good recommendations for lifejackets. Quality? Prices? I'm just looking for the 150N or thereabouts size, with light, crotch strap and sprayhood.

May i ask why you need to change them. My guest ones are 14 years old & 2 years ago I did test inflation & left them inflated for 24 hours. No ill effects so i bought new cylinders deflated & re packed them.
What i did notice was that they curved around under my wife's chin. We tested them on her in the lounge as I could not get her to strip off & sit in the bath ( something about dirty pornographic old git not pulling that one!!) When it inflated it hit her hard under the chin & the seam grazed the soft skin. If she had been in the bath it would have floated up a bit & been extremely uncomfortable. So worth looking at that point when buying new.

I usually discard lifejackets at ten years old. OK, in the past they've had a hard life offshore racing whereas these particular ones have just sat at the bottom of the pile in a locker in the for'd cabin, but still I feel I ought to give guests a lifejacket as good as the one I'm wearing myself.

I was just looking for tips for current bargains or anything on good quality reasonable priced lifejackets.

As it happens we've just ordered 2 new lifejackets from Marine Warehouse. Ordered yesterday. We paid extra for next day delivery (but not much more than standard delivery charges elsewhere) as it's coming up to Easter weekend.
They were dispatched 25 minutes after I placed the order and arrived early afternoon today. I've no connection with the company but have been very impressed by their efficiency and very competitive prices.

The LJ's are Crewsavers-180 Pro and Ergofit 190 -both with automatic/harness point/crutch strap.

Heavier than previous old Crewsaver ones but seem very, very comfortable so no excuse for not wearing them. More expensive than the entry level ones but worth it IMO.

I wish I'd made the change earlier.

Crutch strap ? Handy if you have a peg leg and you fall overboard,it stops your crutch hitting you in the crotch.

By the way, did you hear that the guy who invented predictive text has pissed away
His funfare is next monkey.
