Spent Friday evening sampling the faire with the family after a scrub at the sealift. Food considerably improved and reasonably priced, service okay staff friendly but everything still a bit new and still in training in their first week. Looks promising.

Had a meal in there tonight. Light and airy and food good. Staff under pressure, there wasn't enough of them, but they were competent and pleasant. Menu similar to the Wheatsheaf at Yarmouth (run by the same people) and avoids the ordinary but still has some old favourites. Choices of vegetarian, salads and noodles as well. Saw one meal sent back because something was cold, but quickly rectified with no argument and apologies. Would eat there again.

I guess the Lifeboat is okay if you overnight at East Cowes Marina and cant be bothered to walk any further. I've used it for years, and I know brewers fayre is not everyones cup of tea but their most recent menu was excellent, good value with lots of special offers. Lifeboat now is not so good u nder its new ownership. My wife is a veggie and the choice here is poor - about 4 dishes out of 40. It's also become lots more expensive. It might suit those who moor here, but we've gone from visiting once a week to hardly ever - its no longer my "local" - I'd rather walk into Cowes now (and I live 200 yrds away)
