A friend turned up with the canoe while we were on holiday last year.I cant tell you how bad it was. The material is that shiny plastic that you get in beach balls and the seams are held together with Pritt Stick. It didnt even make it to the water before it popped. After spending a few hours patching it back together (the kids wanted to play in it !) we got it on the water, it was impossible to find a position to paddle, you sink into the floor and the sides are too high and wide to reach over. Its one of the only things from Lidl that has been a let down.

Get a Sevylor Colorado, Hudson or Yukon, they are so much better.

For many years I had a Campari dinghy similar to the lidl offering, in the right conditions, ie calm and not too windy it was the tool of choice, light, quick to blow up, packed away into a small space, and carried two comfortably, easy to patch with waterproof Elastoplast.

I also had an Avon for serious work.

A friend had something similar to the dinghy at one stage. The cheesemetal oars folded up and snapped at a vital time leading to a total loss of biscuits.

I've got a £40 one from Aldi (its grey plastic and looks like an mini Avon sort of thing) and all it really lacks is a transom to stick a tiny outboard or electric one on, and it has no seats so you get wet bum. Other than than it rows out happily in sheltered waters with two up and I have a kind of anchor to stop it getting blown away. They don't really tow that well behind the boat, but what does?.

I wanted something that if it got nicked I wouldn't cry for days. I have to say that quality wise my expectations were suitably low, but it is actually better than I expected and its lasted four years so far without a puncture. To be honest it looks quite a bit better than those on the Lidl site, but its still at 'that' end of the market which you can't get away from.
