Lidl ..10 x Shackles and/or Karabinas for £6.99

These are stated to be 18/10 which I beleive is equivalent to 316 - ie marine grade. Were yours specified as any particular grade ss?

These look good value at £2.99! (Even if they did fall to bits sooner than some premium makes)
 
I bought these about two years ago from Lidl and have been on the boat since with no sign of any rust. Also bought a boat hook which was good value.
Be there at opening time if you are serious about getting any of the offers.
 
With all due respect to LIDLs I would rather pay the extra and go to a reputable chandler.

Any shackle on the boat has the potential to be used in circumstances where failure could cause significant damage to the boat, and potentially loss of life.

Okay I may be paranoid but the thought of risking my ££££ boat to save £ on a shackle doesn't seem like a bargain to me.
 
Then only use them in non life threatening situations

thats why I think they are a great bargain

However when I try to think of situations on the boat where shackle failure would not be a serious issue, I struggle to come up with more than a couple. Then of course I'm not sure I could distinguish them from other shackles once I had bought them - although I could paint them red I suppose.
 
I keep the real ones in my wife's jewellery box /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
