I have just completed my handheld VHF licence form, it asks if you have an EPIRB 121 or 406, it states they must be licenced. I have noted my 121 down, and that will be covered with teh handheld licence, has anyone else realised a 121 must be licenced. I suppose it makes sense as it is using radio signals.

yes, all radio transmitters must be licensed. strange that the govt. hasn't tried to charge us an extra fee for each device! the good thing is that you get your epirb registered at no extra cost.

When I got my last VHF licence I said I had 121/243 Epirb, but they said I didn't need a licence or register it...
