Lewmar windlass thermal cut-out

I have found out, that when my windlass was fitted new, the built in thermal cut-out wires were cut off, where they exit the motor, the upshot being that the motor was never protected at all.
I am now about to fit a new motor and having looked at the wiring diagrams on Lewmar's website, am none the wiser about how to wire up the thermal cut-out. I'm guessing that perhaps the cut-out is wired into the common wire that goes to the foot switches, but it is only a guess.
Is anyone able to keep me right on this? Any help gratefully received.

This cut-out is attached inside the motor to one of the motor brushes and is of very light gauge wire. It is shown on the Lewmar circuit diagrams, but just hanging there, not wired to anything.

Been doing a bit more reaearch on this.
I now think the cut-out is wired in series into the positive wire to the up switch only. This sort of makes sense, as the motor isn't likely to overheat letting the chain out.
If anyone can confirm this, or otherwise it would be good to hear from you.
