I've replaced an old windlass with a Lewmar pro 1000.
Fitting, wirig etc seemed to go OK, and it all works.
But I note that the hole in the deck where the chain falls off the gypsy into the chain locker (about a metre below, and the is arranged to fall through a plastic pipe into the locker), is now much more susceptible to water ingression.
A half decent wave over the bow, might allow half a cup of water in, I'm guessing. During rain, rainwater is sure to fall in.
The old winch (Seawolf 520) had a soft waterproof cover which fitted snugly over, protecting both the winch and the chain hole, and very little water entered here.
Anyone heard of a cover for this new winch (Lewmar)? Or any other ideas?
