was getting a little sluggish recently pulling the anchor over the bowroller
stopped completely at the bow roller today
let it out once more
RIP

i can hear the relays clicking

there is a somewhat dodgy in line connector in the anchor locker, have cut the wires beyond that to check for voltage

the cut wires, past the connector, shows a healthy + - 14.40 when i press the toggle switch, not under load obviously

if the connector is now so corroded that it has burned out i would now not get a voltage at all ?

recon the motor has had it ?

As a last resort dismount windlass and check motor.
More awkward than complicated.Easy to remove, more of a bugger to refit due to weight.
My windlass would let out and but refused to recover.

Downloaded windlass manual from Web.......
Brushes were knackered and also jammed in location guides.
Easy to spot visually and no need to dismantle motor body if not required.
Bought set new brushes from ebay. + Good squirt of switch cleaner elsewhere.
Now works perfectly.
Cost around £25.00.
