Not sure what they're officially called but the rubber blocks which the handles clamp shut on:

They seem to be attached with some kind of rivet, or possibly a stud. One on one of my hatches seemed a bid bodged with a rusty screws which stuck out (very pointily) on the outside. I tried to undo it but it had corroded and attached to the aluminium hatch frame and the head broke off. I'm about to drill out the remainder but....

How should these things be "correctly" reattach the rubber thingy once I've drilled out the remains of the screw? Riveting is something of a dark art which I've never been initiated into. My default plan probably involves a bolt or possibly a sawn-off screw but I'm wondering if I can do better.

I believe the correct term for these rubber stopper thingies is "catch block" and those are indeed rivets. I suppose "what's the deal with rivets and what do I need to rivet small things" is a bit too basic a question for here?

EDIT: OK. Yay Youtube. That looks simple enough. Would I be right in thinking that the kind of pop riveter used for titchy things like this would be a different animal to one you'd use for attaching a boom together or sticking stuff on the mast? Seems a waste of money for a single job but if it could be used for more heavy duty stuff later it might be a good investment (Sorry for tool-ignorace. I'm decidedly un-blokey and don't care for football either)
