When you dismantle the frame to change the acrylic do you need to change the hinges axle? And do you need to change the gasket of the friction lever? Thanks

If the hinges are in good condition I'm not clear why would you want to change them. Same for the gasket.

However you might find that the rubber O rings under the handles are perished or split and these are what stop water leaking past the handle spindle. I bought a supply of these cheaply off eBay: 25mm ID x 3mm

When I changed the acrylic I didn't change the hinge axle or the gasket on the friction lever.
I did have a bit of a job pushing the frame back over the new acrylic with the rubber seal, I had to use a clamp to gently pull them together making sure they were pulled in square and the rubber seal was not trapped.
Old bike inner tubes are good for making new gaskets for the friction lever if a new gasket is needed.
Good luck.

Yep - silicone spray or silicone grease is the right stuff.

Richard

If you can't find fairy liquid then use Silcone ;-)

Youen - Straight from the CE at Lewmar: "Use Fairy liquid!"

I have replaced seals on two Medium profile 77 Hatches (the massive ones) and learnt the hard way using silicone.

As for identifying them go to the lewmar website and match up. The difference between Medium and Ocean Profile is obvious.

cheers

I'm afraid that's not correct. Fairy liquid will only work where a temporary sliding contact with a rubber seal is required. If it's used in a dry area it will dry out and make the stiction worse. If it's in a wet area it will wash out and soon become ineffective.

Fairy liquid would be the right stuff for seating the perspex sheet in the rubber frame seal but siicone grease or spray is the right stuff for the gasket which the OP is asking about in #1 and, I assume, #6.

Thanks my question was about which stuff to use to help the acrylic to slide in the frame, si I understand fairy liquid is the good one,is it difficult to slide ?Youen
