I have been gradually renewing the various components of my inmast outhaul and would like to replace a Lewmar double standup. (The Lewmar block doesn't 'need' replacing - it is just a 'maintenance' change). I bought a Selden double with standup spring, thinking the Lewmar would be shackled to the deck eye.

However, when I tried to remove the Lewmar, I discovered it was a one piece fitting including the deck plate. The only way to separate the old block from eye would seem to be a hacksaw, but cutting through stainless in a confined area without the availability of mains electricity seems fraught.

Removing the deck plate comes into the category of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' i.e. could cause other issues.

My inclination is to leave the old block well alone after it has been injected first with residue free contact cleaner and then a PTFE spray.

But, I would welcome others' thoughts

Even worse those screw heads are probably bolts which go through the deck requiring the ceiling lining to come down, which will mean the lights need to be disconnected and so it goes on. Do they turn cleanly, if so give them a bath and carry on sailing.

Pete,
Thanks for confirming my suspicion.
The sheave spins freely so the block will be staying in situ for the time being.
